GATE is a national level exam conducted for candidates to pursue post graduate or Ph.D. program in the field of Engineering and Technology. However, this exam has international recognition as well. Some universities in Singapore and Germany accept admissions to post graduate courses through GATE scores. From Singapore and Germany, National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Technical University of Munich and RWTH Aachen consider GATE percentile valid for admission(s) to coursework based or research based programs. This admission criterion is restricted to only Indians who scored more than 90% in GATE examination. Apart from this, applicants must produce English language proficiency test score during the admission process of the universities. In addition to above, a good percentage/CGPA must be obtained in Bachelors degree.
Basic Eligibility for GATE Qualifiers for Admission to Foreign University
It is of utmost importance for candidates who wish to pursue post graduate engineering courses from foreign universities using GATE Scores, to know the eligibility requirements set by them. GATE scores are acceptable at four universities apart from India, which are located in Singapore and Germany.

Two world class universities in Singapore which admit GATE qualifying candidates are National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nan Yang Technological University Singapore (NTU).
1. National University of Singapore (NUS)
National University of Singapore is one of the best universities in Singapore. The University has been ranked among the top 20 universities in QS University Rankings. GATE qualifiers can apply for admissions to research based MS programs or Ph.D. programs.
Note: GATE score card of last three years is acceptable. The minimum GATE cut off to get admission in this university is 90 percentile. Other details are as follows:
Applicants should have good GPA/percentage in Bachelor’s degree (at least second class honors). GATE score is set at minimum 90 percentile. Also, whose native language is not English will be required to obtain a good score in TOEFL or IELTS.
The duration of a Masters Program is between 1 and 3 years, whereas a Ph.D. program’s duration is from 2 to 5 years.

NUS Application Process for GATE Qualifiers
The enrollment for Master’s courses at NUS is generally done in two sessions-January and August sessions. However, for international applicants, application forms are available in mid-October every year.
2. Nan Yang Technological University Singapore (NTU)
NTU is ranked 13 in the QS world university ranking. The university accepts GATE scores for the admission in PhD and M.Eng programmes. The minimal cut off for the admission in this university is 90 percentile in GATE.

For Master’s program, minimum required GPA is 2.5, while for research program required GPA stands at 3. Indian Applicants must have acquired GATE Score with minimum 90 percentile. Apart from these, English proficiency certificate must be produced (TOEFL/IELTS).

3. RWTH Aachen University
RWTH Aachen University also accepts GATE Score for the admission in postgraduate programs. RWTH Aachen is a part of IDEA league and is in collaboration with Imperial College London. It is ranked 145 in Quaquarelli Symonds University Rankings in 2015 and 2016.

The minimum criterion for admission to masters programs is 90 percentile in GATE. Applicant should also hold a good CGPA in Bachelor’s degree and English proficiency certificate(s).
